Q : What is Energy Audit?

A : As per the Indian Energy Conservation Act-2001, Energy Audit is defined as “the verification, monitoring,analysis and use of energy including submission of technical report containing recommendations for improving energy efficiency with cost benefit analysis and an action plan to reduce energy consumption”.

Q : How do energy audits benefit industry?

A : An energy audit identifies where and how much energy is consumed in an existing plant facility, building . Information gathered from the energy audit can be used to identify energy conservation measures. Energy audits identify economically justified, cost-saving opportunities. An energy audit, therefore, is a detailed examination of a facility’s energy uses and costs that generates recommendations to reduce energy uses and costs.

Q : What are the qualification for appearing energy manager and energy auditor examination conducted by BEE?

A : A graduate Engineer (Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Technology) or equivalent with three years of work experience involving use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc. or

A post-graduate Engineer (Master of Engineering/Master of Technology) or equivalent with two years of work experience involving use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc. or

A diploma Engineer or equivalent with six years of work experience involving the use of energy in operation, maintenance, planning, etc.
